The Chesterf!elds from Yeovil in the South West of England, originally formed in 1984 and now they’re back with a new album ‘’New Modern Homes’, co-produced by the Chesterf!elds and Ben Turner.
John Parish (PJ Harvey, Eels, Dry Cleaning) joined the final sessions, helping shape the songs before taking the tapes back to Bristol for mixing and some additional recording.
The Chesterf!elds came to prominence in 1986 as part of a thriving UK underground scene that had turned its back on bland over-produced 1980s chart music and was looking for back to basics pop music. Championed by Radio One’s John Peel and Janice Long, The Chesterf!elds released three albums (‘Kettle’ getting to number 2 in the independent charts), five singles (‘Ask Johnny Dee’ reaching number 3), and toured the UK and Europe non-stop before splitting in 1989.
On tonight’s Soundcheck session, The Chesterf!elds play a mix of earlier tracks and songs from the 2022 album ‘New Modern Homes’.
